The Reality
Addiction is everywhere in affluent families.
Almost no one talks about it.
Wealth does not protect families from addiction — in many ways, it complicates it. Resources that could support recovery can also enable avoidance. Professionals who serve the family have financial interests in maintaining the relationship. Family members who might intervene don't know how. And the stigma of addiction in high-achieving families often means the problem goes unaddressed longer than it should.
From 2009 to 2017, I served as Program Director of Caramore Community — a 24-hour residential and vocational rehabilitation program for adults with severe mental illness. I oversaw the full spectrum of services: treatment coordination, housing, employment, financial management, and the daily work of helping people rebuild their lives. I understand how recovery programs work, how to evaluate them, and what real support looks like.
I also have eighteen years of personal recovery. Not as a credential — as a reality. I know what it feels like from the inside, and I know what it takes to sustain it. That combination of institutional experience and lived understanding is rare. I offer it with complete discretion, and without making it the center of anything that doesn't call for it.

I am not a licensed therapist, counselor, or clinical treatment provider. The support I offer is advisory and peer-based — grounded in institutional experience, personal recovery, and genuine understanding. For clinical treatment, I work alongside and refer to qualified professionals.
What I offer that clinical providers typically cannot: the perspective of a trusted advisor who also understands the legal, financial, and family-system dimensions of addiction in a high-net-worth context. I can sit at the intersection of all of those dimensions and help a family navigate them coherently.
